Parkview B&B

Parkview B&B, an 1895 Queen Anne Victorian, opened June 1989 in the Park Street Historic District of Reedsburg, WI, one block off of Main Street across from City Park. Reedsburg is an attractive community of about 9000 people. There are a variety of shopping and restaurants choices with many within walking distance of Parkview B&B. Innkeepers, Tom & Donna Hofmann, have lovingly restored the home to its original beauty with modern conveniences such as central air and now wireless access. The legacy of the second home owner is the stone and shell lawn decorations in the yard including two ponds, a windmill, and lighthouse. Donna's love for flowers is apparent in the flower gardens around the home. Inside discover the suitor’s window, etched and beveled windows, original woodwork and hardware, hardwood floors, tray ceilings, built-in dining room hutch, and other interesting features. The guest parlor has many games available and a player piano. In the summer sitting on the curved front porch is a relaxing place to unwind after a day of activity. If you happen to be here on a Wednesday in the summer, you may enjoy a “Concert in the Park” across the street featuring a variety of music through out the summer!

The four guest rooms are upstairs and have ceiling fans. Two of the rooms have private baths and two have shared baths. All rooms have queen beds with two rooms having a bed for a third person. Some of the beds have handmade quilts by Donna and her daughter and mother. Cable TV is available in most rooms. Inquire about children as guests. Wireless internet is available in guest rooms.

Wake-up coffee or tea is available outside guest rooms prior to a full, homemade breakfast. Donna, a former home economics teacher, prepares seasonal breakfasts using local products as much as possible. Strawberry French Toast is the signature entree at Parkview B&B during strawberry season. Rhubarb, strawberries, asparagus and if you are really lucky, Tom may have found morel mushrooms that may be included in the spring breakfast menus. Summer brings Cherry Muffins from the cherry tree in the yard, raspberry, blueberries, blackberries, and vegetables from the garden. Fall breakfasts include Cranberry Scones, Apple Pancakes, Pumpkin Waffles as seasonal favorites. Guests often comment on the great breakfasts they are served. Donna is always searching for new and interesting recipes and ideas for the breakfast served in the dining room with its beautiful built-in hutch.

The Hofmanns have lived in the area for forty years so are very familiar with the many activities and special locations in the surrounding area. Tom knows the fishing spots too! As Donna and Tom learn about their guests interests, they are able to suggest activities and “off the beaten path” places for guests to enjoy. Visiting many of these spots themselves, they are able to make great recommendations to their guests to make their visit to the area memorable.

Parkview B&B is central to many activities in the area making it convenient for visiting Spring Green with American Players Theatre, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin, House on the Rock, or Baraboo with International Crane Foundation, Circus World Museum, and Devils Lake, or Wisconsin Dells with all of its many, varied activities and attractions. The four bike trails, 400 Trail beginning in Reedsburg, Elroy/Sparta Trail, LaCrosse River Trail, Great River Trail provide 101 miles of connected trails. There are a couple of nature areas to walk right in Reedsburg. Tom and Donna can tell guests about other hiking places in beautiful Sauk County. Canoeing is available with the Baraboo River being the longest reclaimed river in the area. Winter brings cross country and downhill skiing and various winter festivals and activities in the area including eagle watching. Parkview is also attractive for business travelers as a area has been set up with a laptop for guests' use while here.
