Waupaca County Destinations

The waters of the area draws outdoor enthusiasts. The Waupaca Chain O’ Lakes consists of 22 interconnected spring-fed lakes that offer a multitude of options to explore. There are opportunities for paddling, speedboating and waterskiing, fishing, or a tranquil pontoon ride. There are also two cruise options on the chain: the Chief Waupaca – a double decker sternwheeler – or the Lady of the Lakes yacht, both offer narrated tours and dining trips from Clearwater Harbor.

The Chain O’ Lakes empties into the Crystal River, which offers a serene, moving-water paddling option. There are many other lakes and rivers in the greater Waupaca area that offer a place to enjoy the water in a variety of watercraft, tubing, or swimming. If you don't have your own equipment, Adventure Outfitters LLC in Waupaca will have you covered. They rent out kayaks, boats, bikes, and much more.

On drier land, Waupaca offers Hartman Creek State Park and a portion of the Ice Age Trail, both perfect for the hikers and bikers out there.

The Little Wolf River Trail is a walking and biking trail in and around the City of Manawa. The trail extends into the Town of Little Wolf. Visitors to the town will find the trail fantastic for relaxation and exercise. Those that love water activities can visit the Manawa Millpond. Visitors have access to the lake from a public boat landing. Fishing enthusiasts can expect to find Panfish, Largemouth Bass and Northern Pike.

Weyauwega, a quaint rural community, is located on the historic Yellowstone Trail and speaks volumes of history by name and nature. Its foundation has been built around the 250-acre Lake Weyauwega and worldwide award-winning cheeses. Weyauwega touts several parks in this Tree City U.S.A. community. The largest of these is a beautiful 12-acre site, The Weyauwega City Park and Swimming Lake, that offers a man-made swimming lake, walking trail, picnic shelters and sledding hill.
