Welcome to Waupaca! Nestled among pristine spring-fed lakes and rivers, this beautiful tourism destination boasts endless outdoor recreational opportunities, a unique shopping scene, an assortment of dining and opportunities for nights out on the town, and wonderful bed & breakfasts.
The waters of the area draws outdoor enthusiasts. The Waupaca Chain O’ Lakes consists of 22 interconnected spring-fed lakes that offer a multitude of options to explore. There are opportunities for paddling, speedboating and waterskiing, fishing, or a tranquil pontoon ride. There are also two cruise options on the chain: the Chief Waupaca – a double decker sternwheeler – or the Lady of the Lakes yacht, both offer narrated tours and dining trips.
The Chain O’ Lakes empties into the Crystal River, which offers a serene, moving-water paddling option. There are many other lakes and rivers in the greater Waupaca area that offer a place to enjoy the water in a variety of watercraft, tubing, or swimming. There are boat rentals available from various locations on the Chain.
Waupaca has a beautiful Main Street and downtown area. There are boutiques, gift shops, and specialty stores in both the Waupaca and King/Chain O’ Lakes area. So many great dining facilities exist in the Waupaca area as well. Clear Water Harbor offers lakeside seating for great food and drinks and hosts many live bands in the summer months. The Indian Crossing Casino is a large dance hall built in 1925 and offers waterfront dining and many music events throughout the summer. You’ll also want to check out the Red Mill along the Crystal River. This 1855 grist mill has been converted into a beautiful gift shop, coffee shop, and restaurant that offers seating overlooking the river.
Of course, this only covers a small portion of all the Waupaca area has to offer. There is never a shortage experiences to make lasting memories here in Waupaca.
