West Bend is a convenient getaway destination that sits just minutes from Milwaukee in the beautiful hills of the Kettle Moraine. Get out and explore, try your hand at geocaching or fill your calendar with fun events! Here you can find outstanding trails, a charming downtown, and fantastic museums, including the Museum of Wisconsin Art.
West Bend is known as the Geocaching Capital of the Midwest®. There are more than 1,600 caches in a 10-mile radius of downtown, and avid adventurers can track down the 20 caches that are part of the West Bend Four Seasons GeoTour.
The city is also home to some beautiful southeastern Wisconsin scenery. Head out of town and take a hike along the 25-mile Eisenbahn State Trail. Or, lace up your shoes and explore the Glacial Blue Hills Recreation Area or the Northern Unit of the Kettle Moraine State Forest. The biking options include easy riding trails as well as some downhill thrills. Little Switzerland is one of the region’s best ski hills, but in warmer months, it’s a mecca for downhill thrill seekers. The Switz Bike Park gives experienced riders a chance to descend a hill with a 200-foot vertical drop and catch some serious air.
On those warm days, grab your beach blanket and head to Regner Community Park to cool off. Another great way to get outside? Take a stroll along the West Bend Sculpture Walk, part of West Bend’s scenic Riverwalk. Marvel at more than 40 outdoor sculptures from local, national and international artists.
West Bend has a rich history that’s alive in the impressive buildings that grace the city. From a picturesque, fieldstone 1800s convent to a modern and beautiful edifice by the river, there are a lot of special places to discover in West Bend.
