Welcome to Northeast Wisconsin! Our natural beauty will take your breath away and the peace and quiet of the outdoors will relax you in a way you never dreamed possible. The forest trails are unsurpassed for hiking, mountain biking, cross-county skiing and snowmobiling. The lakes and rivers are excellent for canoeing, kayaking, swimming and fishing. It’s not that far away, and once you experience our Northwoods and Eastern Waters, you’ll want to return again and again.
The Northeastern region stretches from Washington Island, the northernmost point on what Wisconsinites call the “thumb” of our fair state, down through Green Bay and De Pere, then back up to encompass the Northwoods which stretches out to Minocqua, Tomahawk, and Merrill.
Over 250 miles of that shoreline greet the curious traveler on the peninsula of the state. The entire eastern border of our unique region is the abundant Lake Michigan shoreline with the Bay of Green Bay bordering other side of Door County. The five Wisconsin State Parks located on the peninsula will excite you, as well as the eleven light houses whose presence still protect the harbors. Apple and cherry orchards dot the hillsides as they gently roll here and there, creating a whimsical feeling of quiet.
At the southern point of the Bay of Green Bay, the City of Green Bay is, of course, known far and wide as the home of the Green Bay Packer football team. Here you will find the Green Bay Packer Hall of Fame, Heritage Hill State Park, the National Railroad Museum and Neville Public Museum.
Not a month goes by that doesn’t have something special happening in the Northwoods as well. The region hosts many sporting events, such as the Eagle River World Championship Snowmobile Derby. Or perhaps you have heard of the annual Paavo Nurmi Marathon in Hurley, or the Menominee River Century Bike Ride in Marinette, or one of many Northwoods fishing competitions? The amount of things to do, places to go and wonders to see area plentiful.
If you ask your innkeepers, you’re sure to find out about all the hidden treasures in the area. Our bed & breakfast hosts are always ready to steer you to our exciting region. Once you’ve traveled Northeastern Wisconsin, you will want to return. We’re sure of it!
