About White Gull Inn
A special feeling envelops you when you cross the bridge over the bay that divides Northern Door County from the rest of Wisconsin. Everyday hassles and worries evaporate as you drive northward through miles of orchards interspersed with farm fields, cedar forests and small towns.
One of those historic coastal villages is Fish Creek, settled in the 1880's by loggers and fishermen. Fish Creek has a natural harbor that separates it from Peninsula State Park. Three blocks from the only stop sign, at the end of maple-shaded Main Street, you arrive at the White Gull Inn, the peninsula's oldest operating inn.
ACCOMMODATIONS WITH CHARACTER
As in many historic inns, our rooms and cottages come in all shapes and sizes. Over the years, we've added to the orginal antiques and decorated the rooms with coordinating prints and fabrics that maintain the warm, turn-of-the-century flavor. However, comfort is strictly up to date, with new mattresses, air-conditioning, fireplaces, modern plumbing and little touches that make your stay as comfortable as can be.
Our Welcker House, completed in 2000, has been painstakingly designed and constructed to match our existing buildings. Many added architectual details, as well as fireplaces, whirlpools and private decks in the four suites create an experience recommended for those seeking the ultimate in comfort and beauty in their Door County vacation.
MEALTIMES ARE SPECIAL
Breakfast at the White Gull means waking up to the aroma of freshly baked coffeecake arising from our bakery. Eggs Benedict, White Gull granola, hash browns and our famous Cherry Stuffed French Toast are only a few of the selections that have made our breakfasts so popular. A full breakfast is included with your stay. Lunches include hearty soups, sandwiches, omelets, salads and tempting desserts from the White Gull bakery.
Entrees at our quiet candlelight dinners feature fresh "cath of the day" whitefish and other regional specialties. Our chefs use only the freshest of produce and other ingredients, preparing each meal carefully to order. All White Gull lmeals are open to the public.
TRADITIONAL FISH BOILS
Picture yourselves on our patio, watching freshly caught Lake Michigan whitefish being cooked before your eyes over an open bonfire, as our Master Boiler explains the history. Inside, when you have sampled the fish, served with melted butter, red potatoes, coleslaw, fresh baked breads and our own cherry pie a la mode for dessert, you'll understand why the White Gull fish boil has become a Door County tradition.
